Drs. Thijs Laeven is van huis uit Romanist en lerarenopleider. Sinds 1992 zelfstandig gevestigd
adviseur en trainer voor opleiding en ontwikkeling van professionals in de sector van archieven,
recordsmanagement en cultureel erfgoed. Zijn aandachtsgebied is personeels- en competentie
ontwikkeling. Zijn portfolio omvat beroeps- en competentieprofielen, functieprofielen, train-de-
trainer programma's, trainings- en opleidingsprogramma's, trainingen, initiële opleidingen.
Opdrachtgevers zijn (semi-) overheidsorganisaties, opleidings- en brancheorganisaties.
De werkvormen die hij gebruikt zijn advisering, training en productontwikkeling, meestal
projectmatig. Momenteel werkt hij aan certificering en registratie en aan trainingsprogram
ma's. Hij is ook actief in projecten van de 1CA (SPA en SAE). De insteek bij zijn projecten is
steeds lerend-werken werkend-leren. Dat geldt voor hemzelf en voor de materie- en proces
deskundigen met wie hij steeds nauw samenwerkt.
Christine Martinez is archivist-paleographer and "conservateur général du Patrimoine" in the
French system. She studied in the École de Chartes and wrote a thesis on Slavery in Spain in the
Golden Age (XVIth-XVIIth centuries). After 14 years in Foreign Affairs as a records manager,
she was appointed in the Direction des Archives de France as responsible for international
co-operation. She was involved in ICA as a volunteer, first as chair of the Committee on
Professional training (2002-2004), then as member of the Programme Commission, and Vice-
President representing professional associations. Since 2009, she is working full time in the ICA
Paris office, as Deputy Secretary General (Programme). She is also deeply involved in the
Association des Archivistes francais, whose training center she managed for 6 years, and whose
president she was from 2007 to 2010. She co-funded the French section of the international
association "Archivists without Borders" in 2005.
Elio Pelzers is parttime communicatieadviseur bij het Gelders Archief. Daarnaast werk hij
als freelance reisjournalist en schrijft hij regelmatig reisgidsen en toeristische artikelen.
Hij heeft meer dan tien jaar les gegeven bij verschillende beroepsopleidingen, onder meer in
communicatievakken.
Drs. Karei Renders is sinds 2007 gemeentelijk archiefinspecteur bij het Regionaal Archief
Alkmaar. Daarvoor was hij werkzaam binnen het brede domein van de informatievoorziening
in zowel profit- als non-profitorganisaties. Studeerde geschiedenis aan de Rijksuniversiteit
Groningen (1991) en volgde de postdoctorale opleiding documentaire informatiekunde (ODI)
aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (1993). Voltooide in 2008 de masteropleiding archiefweten
schap aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam.
Dr. Elizabeth Shepherd is a Reader in archives and records management at University College
London, Department of Information Studies. She teaches on the Masters programmes in
archives and records management. Between 1992 and 2002, she was programme director of the
MA in Archives and Records Management at UCL. She is currently Departmental Graduate
Research Tutor and Chair of the Departmental Research Committee. She established a research
centre, ICARUS, to bring together researchers in records and archives management
(http://www.ucl.ac.uk/infostudies/research/icarus/). Elizabeth's research interests include the
relationships between records management and information policy compliance (the subject of
an AHRC Research Council-funded project) and the development of the archive profession in
England, which is the subject of her PhD and book (2009). She serves on the editorial boards of
Archival Science and the Records Management Journal, is a member of the Arts and Humanities
Research Council's Peer Review College and Higher Education Funding Council for England's
