those archives that send students to Marburg have to pay to the Archivschule were
redefined to cover almost 100% of the tuition costs. At that time the Archivschule
got about 35,000 DM for each student.13These organizational reforms were
necessary in order to reform the curriculum.
In 1997, after long discussions of nearly 8 years, a new training and examination
regulation14 for postgraduate students was adopted and it has been valid since
1999. In those days, the theoretical part was limited to one year for the benefit of
the practical part, which now comprises nine months. In addition, the students
had to write a small final report. Also the exams were changed for the benefit of
archival sciences (see Table 2).
