2 The training referred to in paragraph la. shall include courses in the following subjects: a methods of archive-keeping, including modern classification systems; b methodology of archivistic research; c palaeography; d historical chronology; e diplomatics; f essentials of law; g political organization of the Netherlands; h history of Netherlands legal institutions: i political history of the Netherlands and history of Netherlands political institutions; j history of Netherlands religious institutions; k Mediaeval Latin; 1 Middle Dutch. 3 The training referred to in paragraph lb. shall include courses in the following subjects: a methods of archive-keeping, including modern classification systems; b methodology of archivistic research; c palaeography (Dutch texts only); d essentials of historical chronology; e essentials of the political organization of the Netherlands; f essentials of the history of the Netherlands, including that of political institutions dating from before 1813; g Middle Dutch. 4 Exemption as referred to in paragraph 2 of Section 36 or in paragraph 2 of Section 39 shall exempt students from attending lectures in the subject in question. Section 29. 1 Our Minister shall, having heard the Board of Governors referred to in Section 33, lay down Regulations for the State school for the Training of Archivists; 2 The Regulations shall, in any case, contain provisions regarding: a length of studies; b practical instruction in modern classification systems: c number of periods for each subject taught; d courses given by teachers other than those referred to in paragraph 3 of Section 27; e admission of persons sitting in on lectures; f school fees. 3 The Regulations may include provisions regarding: a lectures in subjects other than those named in paragraphs 2 and 3 of Section 28; b lectures given in places other than where the School is established. Section 30. 1 The courses for the training of senior archivists at the State School for the Training of Archivists shall be open to: a those who have passed their doctoral examination in the faculty of Law or in the faculty of Arts (history section) at a Netherlands university; b with Our Minister's approval, those who have passed their doctoral examination at a Netherlands university: 1 in the faculty of Divinity, or 2 in the faculty of Arts, in a section other than the history section; 3 in the faculty of Economic or Social Science or in the social geography section, provided they hold a leaving certificate from a classical grammar school ('gymnasium", A or B division, or a certificate recognized by law as being equivalent, or have given proof in any other way that they have sufficient knowledge of Latin to complete success fully the training for senior archivist. 2 In special cases, Our Minister may admit for training persons who have not yet passed doctoral examination mentioned in the preceding paragraph. [202] Section 31. 1 The courses for the training of middle-grade archivists at the State School for the Training of Archivists shall be open to those holding a leaving certi ficate from a classical grammar school, A or B division, or from a modern grammar school ('hogere burgerschool'), A or B division, or a certificate recognized by law as equivalent to either of these certificates, or a leaving certificate from a publicly maintained or recognized secondary school for girls. 2 In special cases, Our Minister may admit for training persons not holding any of the certificates referred to in the preceding paragraph. Section 32. If Our Minister considers that, in any given year, the number of those wishing to attend the courses offered at the State School for the Training of Archi vists is too small, he may order them to be discontinued for that particular year. Section 33. 1 The State School for the Training of Archivists shall be under the general supervision of a Board of Governors composed of at least three members. 2 Our Minister shall appoint the members of the Board of Governors, one of whom shall be appointed on the recommendation of Our Minister for Home Affairs. 3 Our Minister shall lay down regulations concerning the exercise of the supervision mentioned in paragraph 1 and concerning the procedure of the Board of Governors. Section 34. 1 The qualification of senior archivist shall be awarded to persons who have passed the examination mentioned in paragraph 1 of Section 36. 2 The qualification of middle-grade archivist shall be awarded to persons who have passed the examination mentioned in paragraph 1 of Section 39. 3 The examinations shall be conducted by an examining board of which the Keeper of the State Archives shall be both member and Chairman and the other members of which shall be appointed and discharged by Our Minister. 4 The examinations shall be public. Section 35. The examination conferring the qualification of senior archivist shall be open to any person who: a has passed a doctoral examination as referred to in paragraph 1 of Section 30, and b has worked succesfully for at least one year as a trainee in one or more reposit ories having a senior archivist as custodian. Proof of this shall be submitted to the examining board in the form of a certificate issued by the custodian. The examining board may ask to see the work or works prepared by the trainee in the course of bis activities. Section 36. 1 The examination conferring the qualification of senior archivist shall comprise the subjects listed in paragraph 2 of Section 28 under a to j inclusive. 2 The examining board shall, if requested, grant exemption from examinations in one or more of the subjects listed in paragraph 2 of Section 28 under e to j inclusive, or in parts thereof, to those who have passed examination (s) in these subjects at a Netherlands university. 3 The examining board shall, if requested, enable those admitted to the examination also to take examinations in one or more of the subjects referred to in paragraph 3a of Section 29. An entry to that effect shall be made on the certificate referred loin paragraph 4 of Section 41. Section 37. 1 The examination referred to in the preceding Section shall be conduct ed in at least two parts, separated by a period of at least one week, and the entire examination shall be taken within one year. 2 The first part shall comprise the subjects listed in paragraph 2 of Section 28 under a to e inclusive; the second part those listed under f to j inclusive. 3 Our Minister shall determine the duration of the examination in each individual subject.
